Our Story
We are Daniel and Martin, the co-owners of DLMEWISE Mens Grooming Studio. We have been working in the Male Grooming and Holistic Therapy industry since 2011 and between us have a wealth of experience to offer to our clients.
Daniel
Daniel was previously the director of a successful electronics manufacturing company and later became a property developer. Around that time he searched for a place to book a back wax but was surprised to discover that few salons offered any such services to men and those that did were female driven beauty salons. Because of that experience and having heard similar stories from male friends and family, Daniel decided to embark on a complete change of direction and trained as a wax hair removal and massage therapist initially and soon after that, he went on to gain wider experience in the industry and successfully obtained qualifications in a number of other treatment specialisms for male beauty . As he grew in knowledge and experience, he took the plunge and opened a Men’s Grooming Salon offering wax treatments and body clippering, specifically for men and began building a strong client base in the heart of Chelmsford City.
Martin
Martin had worked for many years as a Chambers Administrator in a thriving Criminal, Regulatory & Immigration set of Barristers Chambers, in the heart of Central London. In 2015 he felt that something was lacking in his career path and looked at further education courses, eventually training as a massage therapist. Martin found the whole learning experience and the connection to the field of holistic and physical therapy incredibly rewarding and soon after took a course in level 3 PT and Physical Anatomy. Martin worked freelance in his local area of Kent for the next 3 years focusing mainly on sports related therapies and with clients suffering from long term pain management injuries.
In 2018 he also searched locally to book a wax but found the only available options were beauty salons with female therapists. He did manage to book an appointment with a unisex salon, but on arriving for the appointment, was told that the beautician on that day was only comfortable doing part of the wax. This moment sparked a need to make a change.
Even in the worst of storms the sun is just behind the clouds..
By pure chance we met each other through a mutual client and instantly knew we shared the same vision and business ideals and both felt there was a growing need for places where men could enjoy beauty and grooming treatments, in the same way and to the same high standards that woman have been enjoying for decades. The two of us joined forces at the Chelmsford salon and together focussed on strengthening our online platforms and perfecting every aspect of the business.
But, in 2020 the Coronavirus had a devastating effect on business across the UK and one of the hardest hit was that of the beauty industry. Despite doing everything we possible could to avoid it, in August 2020 we made the heart breaking decision to officially close the Chelmsford Salon for good.
Down but not out we focussed on what we still had and that was YOU GUYS! We managed to retain a strong and loyal client base, despite the pandemic restrictions and you were there with us as we opened the doors to our New Studio DLME~WISE in Bicknacre.
We have the same clear objectives that we have always had as to what our business should be, what we can offer to you as individual clients, what our clients can expect of us and the high standards that we will continue to meet.
The Studio has gone from strength to strength including the addition of laser hair removal to our treatment list.
